OSRS Mobile Android & iOS Game Playing Brief Introduction

On 30 October 2018, the mobile version of Old School RS was released, both available for Android and iOS. Players can log in to the game on mobile devices with their accounts information as it works cross-platforms. Since then, players can play the game on computers and mobile devices. It means that they can play OSRS anytime, anywhere. And it is beneficial for the game and players.

Game Requirements & Permissions/App Privacy

Android devices: 

Android 5.0 or above is required. (The minimum specifications for the new Android Client Open Beta are: Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later & at least 2GB Ram)

And this app has access to:

Photos/Media/Files: modify or delete the contents of your USB storage & read the contents of your USB storage

Device ID & call information: read phone status and identity

Phone: read phone status and identity

Storage: modify or delete the contents of your USB storage & read the contents of your USB storage

Wi-Fi connection information: view Wi-Fi connections

Other: receive data from Internet, view network connections, full network access, and prevent devices from sleeping

iOS devices:

iPhones, iPad, or iPod touch: iOS 10.0 or later is required.

Data Used to Track You: Purchases, Identifiers, and Usage Data.

Data Linked to You: Purchases, Contact Info, User Content, Identifiers, Usage Data, and Diagnostics.

Old School RS Mobile Features

The game APP has a "suspend and resume" support which allows you to switch to other apps while keeping players logged in but idle. And there is an account logged-in session that makes it available to log in to the game without entering the account and password again if you have logged in to the device before.

Icons exclusive to mobile

We can see the mobile Internet connection and battery icons at the top-right corner of the mobile interface.

Game Chat & Function Buttons

The game chats appear to the top, and the function buttons leave to the left & right in the OSRS mobile client. These are different from the desktop.

Spell Book

If players use the filters to decrease the number of spells displayed, we will find that the spell icons become enlarged to make them easier to tap.

Controls

As it is a mobile version client, mouse options and key-binds are not displayed.

There are more features to be discovered in the OSRS mobile client. On 28 February 2022, the OSRS New Android Client Open Beta will begin. You can find some new features in the latest version.

Players can directly download the game in Apple App Store (for iOS devices) and Google Play Store (for Android devices).

Note that the mobile phone screen is relatively small and difficult to operate. We suggest you use it only for training non-combat skills, easy combat killings, playing safe minigames, etc. Don't try to kill bosses and go deeper into the wilderness. All in one, keep yourself safe in the game!
