Will You Use Jagex Launcher to Play the OSRS Game?
On 14 March 2022, Jagex published a blog about Jagex Launcher - the home of Jagex’s PC games library. The open beta launcher is currently for Windows only. You can now use it to play OSRS if you use the Windows system.
The Requirements of the System
Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 11
The launcher does not support Mac currently.
How to Install Jagex Launcher?
Firstly download the launcher and then run the Jagex Launcher Installer.exe. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
How to Use Jagex Luncher?
Log in to the launcher with your RS user name/email address and password. If you have OSRS Client installed, it will locate your current installation and boot it for you to play. If you are new to OSRS, you can easily install the game using it.
Do We Need the Launcher or Not?

Can we call it Big Improvements? The current game client can also remember your user name. The only thing you need to do is enter your password to log in to the game. It will be safer to enter the password manually than to let the launcher remember it.
Although you can play RS3 and OSRS through it, players usually play only one of them. Therefore, this launcher is dispensable for players. Also, if you choose to play OSRS through this launcher, it means you have to give up RuneLite. They also mentioned that the launcher would support RuneLite in the future.
