Let Us Talk Something About The New Skills Of OSRS

03/14/22

we need a new skill in osrs

Today is March 14, 2022. It has been 3307 days (nearly 109 months) since the OSRS game was released (since February 22, 2013). In these 3307 days, many players have reached their 99 achievements of the existing 23 skills. And some of them have earned 200M XP of many skills in the game. So what? Create new iron man accounts and continue playing as they did in the regular game to challenge themselves? Or join League mode to experience a feeling similar to a private server?

Warding?

Players and Jagex have been discussing new skills for many years. And in July 2019, a new skill named Warding failed to reach enough support in the polls and was never added to the game. So the Warding was stillborn. The failure may have left a psychological shadow on OSRS Team, or are they lazy (kidding)? After more than three and a half years, Jagex still has no news of new skills.

Dungeoneering & Summoning?

We can see that many players have put forward their own opinions or suggestions on new skills on the forum and Reddit. The most popular posts are about Dungeoneering and Summoning. I also like these two skills very much. And these two skills were also the skills I leveled to 99 and 120 first.

But some player on Reddit said: "I think that might be what people want. Shitty skills like Firemaking fit into the osrs experience and nostalgia. Skills like Dungeoneering on rs3 weren't received well by many people as it was too complex and like a Minigame." Of course, the Jagex mod also explicitly answered with NO.

Do We Need a New OSRS Skill?

There is no need to answer this question. Skills are the core of the OSRS game. And this is one of the reasons why players like this game. Playing games is like falling in love. If two people spend too long together and nothing new surprises each other, they will lose their original passion. The OSRS game is now in such a situation. There is an urgent need for new content updates to attract players. However, minor updates will not achieve good results. New skills will bring more passion to players than any Quest, Raid, Boss, Minigame, etc.

What Kind of New Skills Do Players Need?

As the one who said on Reddit: "Shitty skills like Firemaking fit into the osrs experience and nostalgia." Shitty skills are better than any other complex skill in OSRS. It is also one of the features of the game. Why did so many players give up RS3 and return to 07 Scape? Although the RS3 is more exquisite with richer game contents, the operation is more complex than before. It has broken away from the original RS style. It may also be one of the reasons why the players and Jagex Mod don't want to port the Dungeoneering and Summing skills to OSRS.

These are just personal views. All we can do is wait for Jagex's decision. Add new skills or not? Who knows?
