About Kalphite Queen and Dragon Pickaxe

Kalphite Queen is a powerful level 333 Boss who resides in Kalphite Lair southwest of the Shantay Pass in the Kharidian Desert. Once upon a time, players liked to kill her for the dragon chainbody drop. But now, almost no one cares. Many players killed her just for the desert diary and combat achievements.

Suggested Stats

We suggest you have 70+ in Melee and Ranged combat stats with 44+ Prayer before you try to fight against her. Higher stats are recommended. Under her massive-damage attack, survival is your first goal.

Toxic blowpipe & Ava's Device for Ranged attack switch and better Ranged gear if you have

2 Ropes (unless you have completed the Elite Desert Diary and have 86 Agility)

Each of Super Combat & Ranging potions (4 doses)

1 Antidote++

An emergency teleport like the House teleport tab

Rune pouch with runes to cast Blood burst / Blood barrage or Vengeance

High-healing food like sharks or better

Note: You must have completed some OSRS quests to use some of the items and spells listed above.

Getting There

The quickest method is to use the nearby fairy ring (code: b i q) and run northwest to the tunnel. Otherwise, run west from the Shantay Pass.

Use a rope at the tunnel to enter. Once you are in, use the shortcut if you have 86 Agility (requires the completion of the Elite Desert Diary). Otherwise, run to the end of the tunnel and use another rope to enter the queen's lair.

Fight

There are two forms, and each form has 255 hitpoints. Turn on the Protect from Mage prayer, and start to fight her with Melee. In the second form, switch your Ranged weapon and gear and attack her with Ranged. There is a time limit of 20 minutes for defeating her second form. Otherwise, she will return to the first form with the remaining health in the second form.

Eat when your health is below 31 Hitpoints because her max hit is 31s.

Drop & Price of Dragon Pickaxe

In the future, she will drop the Dragon pickaxe (1/400). Will this let players rekindle their enthusiasm for fighting with her?

As we know, only Bosses in the Wilderness drop Dragon pickaxes. Although KBD is a relatively safe boss, its drop rate is low (1/1500; it will be 1/1000 after Wilderness Boss Rework). It means that you have to take high risks to get them. Maybe this is the reason why its price is always high.

Then, after the update, the price of the Dragon pickaxe may slowly decrease. Will the final price be like the dragon axe, from millions to tens of thousands? Perhaps, this will make Kalphite Queen's lair desolate again.
