Obtain and Use Quartzes from the Desert Treasure II Bosses
Quartzes are unique gems dropped from the four bosses after the OSRS quest Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire. The drop rate is around 1/200 for each boss. There are four types of Quartzes, each from the different bosses.
Obtaining
Each boss drops one type of Quartzes:
Blood quartz - You can get it from Vardorvis; the drop rate is 1/212.5.
Ice quartz - You can get it from Duke Sucellus; the drop rate is 1/215.2.
Shadow quartz - You can get it from The Whisperer; the drop rate is 1/218.1.
Smoke quartz - You can get it from The Leviathan; the drop rate is 1/214.6.
Uses
You can use the quartz on an Ancient Sceptre to upgrade it. Please note that this process cannot be reversed.
Blood ancient sceptre - Use Blood quartz on an Ancient Sceptre to create it. It increases the effects of Ancient Magicks by 10%, and it will overheal up to 10% over your base Hitpoints.
Ice ancient sceptre - Use Ice quartz on an Ancient Sceptre to create it. It increases the effects of Ancient Magicks by 10%, and it provides an additional 10% accuracy bonus given to Ice spells on targets.
Shadow ancient sceptre - Use Ice quartz on an Ancient Sceptre to create it. It increases the effects of Ancient Magicks by 10%, and it will lower your target's Attack, Strength, and Defence levels when casting shadow spells.
Smoke ancient sceptre - Use Ice quartz on an Ancient Sceptre to create it. It increases the effects of Ancient Magicks by 10%, and it reduces a poisoned target's healing by 20% for 6 seconds after taking damage.
You can also use Quartzes to unlock a chest found in the southwest corner of the Ancient Vault for additional rolls at the four bosses' drop table. The fastest way is to teleport with the Ring of shadows (the first option) and go to the next room.
