Introduction of OSRS Shooting Stars and Stardust

08/01/22

OSRS Shooting Stars is one of the OSRS Minigames for all P2P and F2P players. A meteor will randomly fall at one of the selected spots in each game world every two hours. Go and mine it for Mining experience and stardust.

How to Find a Shooting Star

If you are a member, you can use the telescope in a study room in a player-owned house to find where and when (approximate area and time) it will land.

Please note that a better telescope will provide a more accurate time window:

> Oak telescope (44 Construction to build) - 24-minute window

> Teak telescope (64 Construction to build) - 9-minute window

> Mahogany telescope (84 Construction to build) - 2-minute window

If a shooting star has recently fallen, you will receive a message:

You look through the telescope but you don't see anything interesting.

If you are a F2P player, there are no shortcuts. You have to look for it from place to place.

You can also join a Clan Chat like Group Stars for the star locating.

Star Sizes and Experience

The Crashed Stars have nine sizes, ranging from 1 -9, which require different mining levels to mine, giving varying experiences. When you find it, prospect it to check the star size and the progress to the next level.

You will receive a stardust and mining experience while mining crashed stars. Note that F2P players can only get half the experience from mining it.

Star Size Mining Lvl Required EXP/Dust
9 90 244
8 80 162

6 60 74
5 50 48
4 40 31
3 30 26
2 20 22

A max-size star has a minimum of 2930 Stardust and offers 78110 experience.

Dusuri's Star Shop

You can spend your stardust at Dusuri's Star Shop, found by the Mining Guild entrance in Falador. The items you can buy are as follows:

Item Price (dust) Information
Celestial ring (uncharged) 2,000 It gives an invisible +4 boost to Mining. You can charge it with stardust, one dust for one charge (up to 10,000). The charged ring has 1/10 chance of giving an extra ore when mining rocks up to adamantite. You can also combine it with an elven signet at a singing bowl for a celestial signet with 100 crystal shards and 1,000 stardust.
Star fragment 3,000 You can use it to recolour the prospector kit pieces to gold, one fragment for one piece.
Bag full of gems 300 It contains an assortment of 40 noted uncut gems from Sapphire to Onyx (extremely rare).
Soft clay pack 150 It contains 100 soft clay.

Note that F2P players cannot use Dusuri's Star Shop because it is for members only!

It is an AFK method for Mining training. You can have it a go if you have never tried it.
